Don't skip th eseason salt. It's the beef that's adding too much table salt. If yous rinse each piece of stale beef before you chop it up and so pat dry with a paper towel the saltiness is alleviated and this appetizer is a big hit. Takes a little more fourth dimension simply information technology is worth it.

Very good! I used Buddig corned beef, about a package and a half and instead of making it into a ball, I just put information technology in a bowl as a spread. Also added a little garlic pulverisation. Served information technology with Ritz and Triscuits and everybody loved it, fifty-fifty my brother who says he never likes "stuff like that".

similar other reviewers, i chose the carl buddig packaged beef over dried beefiness, although next time may attempt it with corned beefiness like r.t. did! also, i didn't accept green onions so i added about a rounded tablespoon of finely minced onion instead. the worchestershire sauce & seasoned common salt really give this recipe a overnice flavor. nifty with triscuits. cheers joan!

I love this stuff, but to me, the Worchestershire and seasoned salt ruin this classic recipe, and then as a personal preference, I've always fabricated this with just cream cheese, green onions, and dried beef (in a jar...don't remember the brand name). I don't rinse the beef, simply mince it. In this case, I dear the saltiness of the beefiness with the creaminess of the cream cheese...accented by the green onions. Without the boosted salt, it's non too salty. I am puzzled past rinsing table salt off...so adding salt = ) ...

I also tried using Carl Buddig sliced Beef instead of the dried beef and that tamed downwards the saltiness. And some chopped pistaschios instead of walnuts. I like both versions very much. :-)
12/30/2004
I added some shredded Precipitous Cheddar cheese to this. I made it for a party in Nov and have been asked to bring it for New Years, then I think it was a striking!
x/24/2001
This was good but it was a little besides salty. Side by side time I am going to skip the flavour salt.
12/21/2011
Really works better with shredded cheddar cheese and cream cheese (I do 8 oz of each). I was out of light-green onions and used dried chopped chives instead. I ran out of Worchestershire sauce and used Country Bob'south instead (made it sweeter). Be sure and rinse the dried beef well to remove the extra salt. I used onion powder and garlic salt instead of seasoned common salt. I put all the beefiness into the cheese ball and and then curlicue it in crushed pretzels.
12/23/2010
This is crawly!!!! I used nearly 1/2 corporeality of beef & rolled information technology in pecans instead of the dried beefiness. I besides added some shredded cheddar cheese. Thanks!
12/30/2007
good stuff. Very salty, and then don't forget to rinse the beef as I did! I added a scattering of sharp cheddar cheese every bit well. Volition definitely make once again with rinsed beefiness!
03/16/2008
I liked this alot, so did the gals I made it for. The dired beef was a pain. I rinsed it twice to be certain it was not salty. I used all the beef in the "ball" and used shredded cheese to cover information technology.
12/19/2007
This is very shut to the recipe I use. I don't utilize Worcestershire sauce or seasoned salt but I do utilize MSG. Sometimes I add a splash of Worcestershire sauce just I really tin can't tell the difference ane way or another. This is my 14 year old sons fav!!! He can sit and eat the whole thing past himself!
03/11/2012
I have made this several times. I am certain this is terrible for yous, but sooo practiced. I usually use four oz of beefiness, b/c that is = to ii packages of the Buddig Beef. I usually merely chop all the beef and mix it in and then just serve the mixture in a bowl instead of rolling into a ball. . . Unless I am trying to exist fancy. :) I always endeavour to brand ahead, b/c information technology is much meliorate when the flavors have time to meld. We love it w/ Triscuits and Ritz. Thank you for a great recipe!

AWESOME AND A Party PLEASER, I Add A Fiddling More BEEF THAN CALL FOR BECAUSE MY HUSBAND LOVES IT.
02/05/2011
YUMMY! I fabricated this years ago and was and then happy to find the recipe again...so piece of cake to make nonetheless then tasty. I added chopped nuts, and because I am a bit of a germaphobe, I didn't use my bare hands to brand the ball - I rolled information technology around in a piece of plastic wrap and felt better about that. I took it to a get together with girl friends, and they all said it was addictive!
12/xvi/2011
This is a great recipe with bully flavor and no MSG!!! Information technology is also quick and easy, another PLUS.
12/23/2005
I made this for thanksgiving. I have 3 brothers whom love to eat. They loved it along with there kids. I didnt modify a affair with this. Thanks and so much for such a delicious recipe.
12/15/2011
I have loved this recipe from my days at Bridge Club. I use Buddig beef, finely chopped olives, green pepper and onion. Information technology is my most favorite ever!
10/22/2007
Delicious and perfect for outdoor events because of the consistency of the cheese. Instead of wrapping information technology into a ball, I spread information technology out like a dip. The recipe is good, but a lilliputian bland, so I added several cups of fresh bacon bits and a little cayenne pepper to requite it some zing.... that did the trick and everyone loved it! I'll utilise this recipe again.

my aunt makes this at every family unit get-together and we all inhale the stuff! i love it with garlic bagel chips. the flavour added by the green onions is wonderful!
12/30/2007
Don't forget to rinse the dried beef like it says on the Jar. Anybody at the Christmas party asked for this recipe, information technology is every proficient.

This was very good and very quick and easy. Will definately make it again.
09/02/2009
I've made this for years, but instead of the Worcestershire sauce and seasoned salt, I use the some of the powdered flavoring from the Mrs. Grass Chicken soup mix that comes in the box. Yum!
09/25/2011
Merely didnt similar this at all.
01/12/2009
Besides salty for me. Side by side fourth dimension I will rinse off the beefiness before chopping. Other than that - tasted great. Volition make over again.
05/12/2009
Try using "accent"
04/08/2005
I got this recipe a couple of years agone from a friend, it is very expert. I exercise not use as a cheese brawl, I blend everything in the food processor except the green onion (I mix that in past hand) and put in a bowl as a dip, anybody ever loves it.
12/14/2012
I have used this recipe for years simply instead of seasoning salt I use Emphasis and permit it set for a couple of hours before serving. Information technology'south e'er a huge hitting.
11/xi/2004
I made this just rolled the ball in chopped walnuts - very skilful!!
10/27/2006
I made this for my son'due south offset birthday party and served with sliced cheese and whole wheat crackers. I should have made more considering information technology was gone before the party was even halfway over! This is a wonderful recipe and I'chiliad actually going to brand it again only to have in the house for a snack.
02/05/2007
I will employ this recipe agin! Very good!!
11/19/2014
This was a tasty recipe variation of how I've ever made it and others I know have made this. Instead of stale beefiness, I use the Budding beef packs. It reduces the saltiness profoundly. I also add minced stale onions instead of light-green onions to requite it more of a pop. I don't use seasoned table salt either because the Worcestershire sauce and minced onions requite information technology plenty "pizzazz" to not demand boosted salt. All in all, I gave this 4 stars simply considering the saltiness was through the roof for me and most of family unit. Other than that it was pretty good
12/23/2016
This is one of my go to cheese ball recipes and always a big hit.
05/eighteen/2016
First, I chopped up the beefiness in the food processor, then rinsed and strained it and patted dry out on a paper towel - MUCH easier than washing each slice. Onion was chopped nice and fine in the processor, likewise - I used everything but the concluding inch of those onions! Only change I made was adding a jar of "Former English Cheddar spread". When I first tasted it, i was worried it was way likewise salty, but I put it in the fridge over dark. In the morning, the season was VERY skillful. Rolled it in chopped pecans and it was 1 of the kickoff things gone at our snack twenty-four hours in the role.
08/21/2017
I made mine and left out season salt and added just a little sprinkle of garlic salt and added 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese and served it with black bean tortilla chips and it was an absolute hit at work. So succulent!!!
11/27/2012
This is my become to cheese ball recipe! Very proficient. A couple of important tips though. #1. The longer information technology sits, the more the flavors blend. So I would at least make this the day before you want to serve information technology. #2. You MUST rinse the dried beef nether some running h2o really well to remove the salt or else the cheese ball will be fashion also salty! Just rinse the beef slices, so pat dry with paper towels. Enjoy!

We make this for Christmas parties and it's always a hitting!
08/26/2013
Its awesome I make one a calendar week for my family an for political party'due south! ! It is very salty then I use the lower sodium beefiness big difference effort that an y'all dont accept to rinse your beefiness :)
11/25/2021
Had to substitute balsamic vinegar. Very skillful
eleven/26/2013
Very practiced, rolled mine in parsley from my garden. For the common salt issue (I do similar the regular dried beefiness) I used my kitchen scissors to cut it upward into a strainer, so ran information technology under warm water. Squeeze out the water, and that took care of the saltiness issue and my beef was set up to drib into the foam cheese.
11/30/2013
Since the first time we made information technology (my husband and I similar to melt together), it's been a "command operation" at family events. Nosotros typically add a niggling garlic powder. Smashing recipe.
12/25/2013
I couldn't discover dried beef at the store past my business firm and so I used two packages of buddig corned beef and added 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder (Pulverization not salt!) and it was really tasty. Make sure you get out the cream cheese out for a few hours and its really piece of cake to mix. I'd recommend.
12/22/2015
I too used Carl Buddig. My dad has fabricated these for years as popems. You lot roll the mixture into walnut size balls, scroll them into chopped beef and you lot pop em into your oral fissure - no crackers required. Thanks for sharing
12/28/2013
Adept. I added 4 oz of sour cream and finely diced green, blood-red, orange peppers and garlic salt. The sour cream was added to help stretch the amount of terminate product. Had unexpected guests. Everyone loved.
01/14/2015
I knocked off a star for this reason: 1 TBLS. is too much Worchestershire. A teaspoon is plenty. Jarred chipped beef is likewise salty. Use Carl Buddig smoked beefiness in the bags. I apply two or 3 - 2oz. numberless, it'south fine and meliorate priced. I also simply used 4 stalks greenish onion. The idea is to have the ingredients marry each other, not overwhelm. This is a great as a spread, besides. You don't have to bother covering it with beef. Best when it sits over nighttime.
12/24/2018
I cut all ingredients in half to make little private gifts for Christmas! Information technology was a hit!!
12/26/2012
Very skilful! I made this yesterday for a small Christmas gaqthering. Everyone loved it. I used two (2oz) packs of shaved beefiness inside the brawl because I could not observe dried beef; then I used 1 (2oz) pack of shaved beef on the outside. I doubled the Worchestershire Sauce. It makes a large brawl (about 5-6 inches in diameter). For a small gathering of 5-6 people, you could half the recipe. We had near one/2 of the ball left over with 5 people enjoying it; eveyone was trying to prevent getting full on this because we were post-obit it with a large meal. I will try rolling in crushed pecan bits the next time.
05/22/2016
I,ve made this dip for years but add a picayune beer till its the consistancy I desire for spreading, The beer adds more flavor. Also Its ane of my families all time favorites.
06/21/2018
I don't utilize seasoned salt. I utilise the recipe as is but add garlic powder and onion powder and don't rinse the beefiness. Perfect every fourth dimension!! I have made this multiple times and information technology is always gobbled upwards!!!
01/06/2018
I make this recipe once more and again every vacation season! The only change I take fabricated is that I mix in all the dried beef with the other ingredients. I embrace the cheese ball with finely chopped pecans. E'er a hitting with family unit and friends.
12/07/2016
I did not add whatsoever salt. Everybody seemed to enjoy this.
11/23/2017
Its an old favorite at our house. I as well employ Buddig stale beef , foam cheese, green onions, worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and some pepper and seasoned salt.
11/03/2018
Love this stuff. I lost my recipe and am so happy to run into it again. Equally a side notation, Lyby basically changed the recipe then rated it. I don't mind someone making a recipe their own but don't rate a recipe so change all of it.
